Coronavirus Causes Massive Backup of Container Ships off California Coast

Incredible aerial video shows the massive backup of container ships waiting to dock off the coast of California. Here’s what’s causing it and how you can be affected.

The Massive Backup of Container Ships

The coronavirus is causing a traffic jam of a different sort off the coast of California. There’s a glut of container ships waiting to unload their cargo. One reason for the backup is the number of COVID 19 infections among dockworkers. By Jan 25, more than 800 had tested positive. The ships now waiting offshore are holding 190,000 truckloads of goods. Some items like Valentine’s and Easter goods, are arriving too late to go to market. And that means consumers could see emptier store shelves.
